Working in a customer service/call center environment in not a job that I expected to be easy. I went into it knowing that I would be dealing with unhappy customers most of the time. No problem! I've been an unhappy customer myself and know what it feels like. I have to say that I sometimes deal with the most ridiculous, bitchy, grumpy, rude and whiney people. Yes the charges are valid! You made long distance calls to Canada! Take responsibility for it! No I am not going to send you a free phone because you broke yours! I will give you assistance when you tell me what you need and not a moment before...I know that you are on the go, but I've got nothing...you are talking with a mouthful of peanut butter or something! Hang on! I am not your bitch! I will help you, but you have to help me help you! I am sorry that you did not return your phone to us and we charged you a restocking fee! Take accountability for your actions! Start nice, because you can always GET UGLY! That said, why would you want to get ugly anyway? What is the point? You are only making yourself look like an idiot. If you are dealing with a huge multi-national corporation, just bend over and take it...you signed a contract, remember! You should not have done it!
You can imagine that my work day was rather interesting! I had a woman tell me that she has a PHD. She said this in a feeble attempt to belittle me after telling me to get my "fucking manager". How professional. "I hope these calls are recorded!", she said. Oh, they are...you know what we do? We listen to them and laugh and gasp at the foul language and stupid "smart" ass remarks and think to ourselves "What a fucking idiot!". Be sweet!
